Music: Octavian – Endorphins

London-based rapper Octavian released his new mixtape titled Endorphins. Following his phenomenal breakthrough mixtape Spaceman, I was really excited to listen to his follow up project. Featuring more American collaborations with artists like Smokepurpp, Theophilus London, ARBA and A$AP Ferg, he is expanding his sound further than he ever has, through tracks that include beautiful instrumental melodies and grooves as well as his unique flow and vocal tones.

Tracks like “King Essie” and “Molly Go Down” feature synth-heavy beats that sound somewhat ethereal, sounding like something A$AP Rocky would have released in the early 2010s. With the cloudy, woozy soundscapes created through the music, Octavian is able to perfectly flow and rhyme over these beats, bringing introspective lyricism and a more focused attitude, bringing more energy than ever before. “Risking Our Lives” is an incredible track, as well as “Lit” featuring A$AP Ferg, with that hard-hitting beat and their ability to create a hard-hitting banger that will be sure to hit the clubs soon. Octavian’s unique voice and colourful production makes him one of the more exciting and interesting artists within the UK hip-hop scene and Endorphins is proof of that.
