US based producer Toonorth comes through with a new release titled Melancholy Pt.2, an EP that acts as a follow-up project to his amazing 2015 EP titled Melancholy. The talented musician is able to come through with a soulful and personal record that really captures a smooth, melancholic vibe.

With heavy boom-bap production and just a little extra bass, the soul is captured through the glittery synths and gorgeous keys, especially on tracks such as “Grizzly Peak,” a highlight for me on this tape. With incredible loops and a groove to it that sticks with you throughout, the tracks on this album possess an infectious energy from start to finish. The grit on “Melancholy” is accompanied by smooth, ethereal synths that make it an amazing introspective listen. There are so many great things to say about this roject, but if you’re looking for some bass-heavy boom-bap instrumental music, this is the one. Other highlights include “Mirage Pt.2” and “Dazed,” the latter of which has amazing guitar leads which bring a beautiful tone to the music.
