You guys have no idea how long I’ve been anticipating this new Fatima album for! I refuse to believe that it’s been 4 years since her last album Yellow Memories on Eglo Records. She is back in style with a new LP titled And Yet It’s All Love on the legendary London-based label.
Produced by the likes of Purist, Mndsgn, Natureboy Flako, J.D Reid, Swarvy, Freckles Pecan, Taz Arnold and Kirkis, the album features some incredibly luscious and smooth music that complements Fatima’s instantly recognisable gorgeous voice. The lead single “Somebody Else,” produced by J.D Reid is one of the clear highlights of this album. The colourful and dynamic instrumental features subtle keys and synths, with vocal snippets and drumming that add a colourful texture to the record. Speaking on break-ups and misplaced love, the emotions expressed by Fatima can be heard throughout this impressive album. “Caught in a Lie” and “Movie” are perfect examples of that, especially the latter track which features strong strong piano leads that give Fatima the opportunity to shine vocally. The title track, which also happens to be the closer of the album, sees Fatima channel her inner Björk, with powerful vocals and long notes that are backed by dreamy electronic production that builds slowly throughout, to end the album on an angelic note.
And Yet It’s All Love is an excellent album showing Fatima’s growth as an artist. A true testament to her talent and hard-work, this album is one I recommend everyone check out.
