Weyland McKenzie is a name you should remember. Originally from Stoke Newington, London, the talented 21 year old poet comes through with bars and an ill flow on his new single “TDM” over colourful production (from Ruben Joy) that really brings such a smooth vibe.
The hook is incredibly catchy and flows incredibly well with the introspective lyricism that really showcases his talents as a writer. With slick wordplay and a crazy flow, Weyland is able to paint a vivid picture of his life throughout his lyricism. It’s impressive how he is able to do this in the space of 3 minutes, and as mentioned, the rich, textured production enables him to flow like butter over the beat. Everything about this track makes me look forward to his upcoming debut EP Northeast, which is coming out soon.
I also saw him live yesterday at the Treehouse Vibes and ABOE (A Bit Of Everything) ‘Sound Of Mind’ event, which was, by the way, fucking incredible. Weyland’s stage presence made it an amazing show, and as part of the ABOE creative collective, he is going to continue blossoming into the talented artist he is. Keep it up man, I’m rooting for you to win!
