Before releasing here debut project Love Games EP a couple of weeks ago, London – based singer Vonné has only released a few tracks in the build up to this upbeat and enjoyable EP. “Down” and “Closure” were the singles she released back last year, and contained an energy that was so infectious that you can’t help but bob your head to it or even dance.
Her new 5-track EP is an extension of that same energy, with electronic and synth-heavy instrumentals that are both radio-friendly and musically rich with soul and lyrical depth. The R&B singer sounds confident and raw with honesty on this EP, with songs such as “Closure” giving an insight into a break up, and trying to get closure from the situation (it is the name of the track after all). My favourite track on the album is “Best You Ever Had” with it’s slower paced instrumental and Vonné expanding her vocal range more than on any other track in my opinion, and also sounds incredibly emotive. The instrumental on “Work” is my favourite on the EP with colourful synths being interpolated within an upbeat grooves that close this project beautifully. Vonné really comes into her own on this EP, and I’m excited for her future.
